The series was taken at a farm 50 kilometres outside of Berlin, where approximately 60 waterbuffalos graze. Here they – illegally – opt for a more humane way of slaughter. The series shows the cattle ready for slaughter being shot in their own pasture early in the morning. This way the animals don’t have to endure the stress of transport to the slaughterhouse. The slaughter is taken very seriously and the farmer is accompanied by a a veterinarian and with someone from the veterinary inspection office present.
