Flora carnivora
by Cristina Pedrazzini
For this series of photographs Cristina Pedrazzini used a range of different materials derived from animals to recreate flowers. “I have used raw and processed meat for the red flowers and lard for the white flowers. There seems to be a new level of awareness about where our meat comes from and that inspired me.”
Why combine meat to make flowers?? In some ways aesthetic al opposites. Meat is bloody and crude - Flowers are fragile and beautiful. The series of photomontages shows us meat as an almost unrecognizable material, just like a lot of the convenience food products of unrecognizable origin which we buy in grocery stores
