Vinaigrettes abstraites
by Amélie Lombard

Vinaigrettes abstraites tells the story of an impossible but nevertheless desirable marriage: between oil and vinegar’s. The photos depict the scenes of this tumultuous relationship in all its forms. Like an eternal dance, these fluids mingle and repel each other continuously. The vinaigrette is alchemist’s quest represented here as a tribute to Abstraction. With a variety of oils and vinegars as a palette, Vinaigrettes abstraites draws its inspiration from famous abstract works in order to catch their primitive emotion: a shape, a color, a movement.
With this series Amélie Lombard won the first price at the Food Photo Festival in 2010.

Vinaigrettes abstraites
by Amélie Lombard

Amélie Lombard is a young food photographer, based in Paris. She collaborates with luxury brands such as Fauchon, and works for international newspapers and magazines. Her interest in photography started at a young age. For Amelie pictures were a way to express herself: “my way to interpret the world and my inner world. Soon I discovered that studio photography enabled me to set my creativity free.” The studio enables her to create small imaginary worlds and to tell stories. Her passion for cooking made a plate and its contents a natural choice of playground. She loves playing with textures. Amelie always works in series and each series corresponds to a story she wants to tell.
